A New Job to Do
April 16th, 2007A New Job Too
The other BIG change is that a job opportunity came along that I am so excited to report about. Sailing is now not only a Paralympic endeavor, a hobby, but now my new career. I am the new Adaptive Sailing Coordinator at Piers Park Sailing Center on Boston Harbor, where I get the chance daily to bring folks with all kinds of disabilities to sport of sailing.
Having a job inside the sailing industry is a real win win. There is a level of built-in understanding for campaigns like mine, unlike other industries. They recognize how important the campaign is, and my need for time away to train and compete. The Adaptive program wins too -as many of my fellow disabled sailing friends have already offered to help the program and volunteer! They understand what sailing has brought to their lives and also want to spread the love of the sport and mentor others. Our sailors benefit from my years of experience in the many ways for people of all abilities to sail.
