SILVER!!!
September 15th, 2007The IFDS World Championships were a great experience - for two weeks we took over the Rochester Yacht Club surrounded by nearly 200 athletes with disabilities from 30 different countries. I saw ABILITIES I have just never imagined, like the SKUD sailor from Australia, she has no hands, no arms and one right foot. She helmed a SKUD rather well using an electronic joystick, controlled only by her one foot - an amazing gal!
We finished second, and you can read all the details at www.alove4sailing.com.
Following the disabled worlds came the Sonar Worlds, right in my town of Marblehead. Our family hosted 5 sailors - some from the UK, one from Austria and another from the heart of New Orleans. Dan sailed, then immediately went to work making sure our boat will be ready for the Trials.
